24 September 2008: Goulburn Workers and Lyneham Meats Offer a Helping Hand
The Goulburn Workers Club and Lyneham Meats today made generous contributions to the Walk Against Cancer. Lyneham Meats have agreed to donate sausages for a BBQ
fund-raiser to be held at the NAB Dickson Branch. The Goulburn Workers Club will assist by donating and hosting a Meat Tray Raffle on Saturday 27 September 2008.
20 September 2008: Brumbies' player, Julian Salvi to Walk Against Cancer
Local Marist College product, Julian Salvi will "walk against cancer" from Parliament House to Canberra City
on Friday 26 September. After completing his best season of Super Rugby, the former Australian Schoolboys captain
will join a growing list of celebrity walkers at Parliament House.
Despite the Rugby League theme of the walk, Salvi was keen to contribute and was quick to join the celebrity crew!
On ya Julian!!!
18 September 2008: Raiders' Half Back, Marc Herbert to Walk Against Cancer
Mid-season NRL sensation, Marc Herbert will demonstrate his support for the Cancer Council by joining Geoff and Paul
for the Official Launch of the Walk Against Cancer on September 25 at the NAB Business Banking Centre in Canberra.
Marc will follow up this appearance on Friday and fire the starter's gun at Parliament House.
Showing experience and skill beyond his 21 years of age, Herbert debuted for the Raiders against the Gold Coast Titans
in Round 20. Herbert fell agonisingly short of a dream NRL semi-final debut when he injured his knee in the club's 40-25
victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
9 September 2008: 10,000 Reasons to Love the NAB
Once again showing their commitment to community based projects, the National Australia Bank (NAB) today provided $10,000 towards the Walk Against Cancer. The NAB
will work as partners with Geoff and Paul to ensure the success of the event.
5 September 2008: Territory and Municipal Services CEO, Mike Zissler Does the "Great Shave"
Territory and Municipal Services (TaMs) Chief, Mike Zissler has shaved his beard and hair in support of the Walk Against Cancer and Camp Quality. Mike's "Great Shave"
raised over $8000. An amazing effort! A big thank you must go to Shari Millar from Cosmo for her efforts in removing Mike's mammoth beard!
5 September 2008: ACT Ministers to Walk Against Cancer
ACT Minister for Territory and Municipal Services, John Hargreaves (pictured left)
and ACT Minister for Sport, Andrew Barr (pictured right) will support the Walk Against Cancer
by joining Geoff and Paul on their leg from Parliament House to the ACT Legislative Assembly.
Minister Hargreaves is pleased to support the Walk Against Cancer and has called for the Canberra
Community to support Geoff and Paul. Having experienced a recent health scare, Minister Hargreaves
believes the walk is an innovative way of raising money for cancer research, whilst also promoting
the benefits of exercise in reducing the risk of diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
As an ACT Public Servant and member of the Canberra Community, Geoff Davidson was delighted to
receive the support of Minister Hargreaves and Minister Barr.
22 August 2008: Road User Services' Trivia Night Raises $1812 for the Walk Against Cancer
Paul and Geoff would like to thank Anne O'Donoghue, Bridie Cosgriff and Anna Carroll from Road User Services for their massive efforts in raising $1812 at the Road User
Services Walk Against Cancer Trivia Night.
14 August 2008: NRL Support Walk Against Cancer
The National Rugby League (NRL) have thrown their support behind the Walk Against Cancer by issuing a media release to a list of T.V., Radio and Print Media. The NRL
have also printed a news article on www.nrl.com.
8 August 2008: North Sydney Bears Offer Support
The North Sydney Bears today offered their support for the Walk Against Cancer. Bears CEO, Greg Florimo has agreed to allow a collection on game day at North Sydney Oval
on August 16. The Bears will also provide merchandise and other items items to help with fund-raising.
